It is almost like I must have lived a previous life during the Depression or something.
What else would honestly explain why at any given time I have no less than four large containers of coffee cream in my refrigerator?
Every now and then I say to myself that I must not purchase another container until I am opening the last one. After all, that will take me several days to use up, giving me plenty of time to get to the store for a replacement.
But, y’all, I cannot do it.
I feel myself get panicky when I am down to two remaining bottles. Almost like shaky and anxious, because YOU JUST NEVER KNOW WHAT COULD HAPPEN AND HOW IN THE WORLD COULD I POSSIBLY DRINK MY COFFEE WITHOUT MY FLAVORED CREAM???!!! [She’s not exaggerating. I once suggested she use milk in her coffee as a stopgap and found myself on the business end of her lethal stare of death.-Lisa]
Clearly, I have a problem.
But, I don’t think I am quite ready to admit I am powerless over coffee cream.
Do you have strange, hoarding habits, too? What is an item that you find yourself stocking up on, just in case?
I buy tissue every time it is on sale at work, can’t get caught running out of that! I also stock pile cases of bottled water and Dove soap packs. I have what we call a store in the house to hoard all these items!
So glad to know I am not alone! You would be a great neighbor to have for the days when I forget that we are down to the last bar of soap! 😉
I do not like to run out of cream, either - coffee just isn’t the same without it - so it is always in my fridge. And I buy the big containers. When coffee is an important part of your morning/day/life, you want it to be tasty. (As an aside, I usually use regular cream in my coffee but I think that the caramel macchiato flavour sounds yummy!)
The caramel macchiato is totally YUMMY! Take it from me, it is well worth your buy! 🙂 And yes, exactly, coffee is a very important part of my day, so if I can’t drink it with cream, then why even bother??!! 😉
Frosted shredded wheats…I like to keep at minimum two boxes of it. In general, at any given time I like to have at least four boxes of cereal. I mean, there are, after all, a whole two people living in my house!
And cereal is tasty, so having lots of it is a good call…hope you keep extra milk on hand, too! 😉
During the holidays I hoarded the sugar free peppermint mocha creamer. I had enough to last me through last week. I cried when the last drop fell into my coffee. *sigh* french vanilla just doesn’t do it for me anymore.
Stopping by from SITS!
omg!!!!!!!!!!!! that’s like my pumpkin spice addiction!!!!!!!!!! i hoarded anything and EVERYTHING pumpkin flavored! and my friends were enablers! someone actually found pumpkin flavored hummus…. i passed on that on, however. lol
I am obsessed with the pumpkin creamer, too…it is hard to find, but when I did I would usually buy like 5 of them at a time! 😉
I hoard peanut butter.
Definitely want to have that on hand!
Right now I’m out of Luna bars and it is TERRIFYING. I would not want this for you. So stock up on your creamer, my friend. Cheers!
OH NO, that is the WORST!! I definitely hoard protein bars, too!
Oh, I am one to say we are out of something as soon as we’re down to one left, so I totally understand. If I don’t have at least 2 pounds of butter in the freezer, I am worried I’ll run out, or an extra bag of flour or sugar or so many other things. I get it from my dad.
My philosophy: Buy it when it’s on sale and buy more than you need so it will last you until the next time it’s on sale. This POV helped me a lot in college. I was the one in the dorm who always had enough to last the semester while my sister had to buy things at whatever price they were (normally that meant overpriced) or go without…and that’s just not an option for things like deodorant or toothpaste! Anyway, I only buy stuff I’ll ACTUALLY use, so that’s a plus. 😀
Oh, and I might have a tiny bit of an issue with lip gloss and flavored coffee or tea - I tend to go crazy on getting those because I love them. LOL 🙂 I have enough lip gloss to last me until the year 3000, but hey! If we ever DO have a zombie apocalypse, I will look AWESOME! LOL 😀
How ’bout we get together? I’ll bring the flavored coffee, tea and lip gloss and you bring the creamer? We could have a block party between the 2 of us and be all “Free sample!” with everyone! Whatcha think? 😉
We are pretty obsessed with flavored coffee, too…I should have probably added that to the post…with delicious coffee cream, you MUST have delicious coffee! 😉
Of course! Don’t forget my obsession with lattes and mochas…and frappes…and iced coffee…well, just coffee drinks in general! I even learned how to make my own! *grimaces* Maybe I should join a coffee AA? 😉
you should see my tea collection. and yes, i am THAT person… the one that wastes money in Teavana (when I have spare change). My latest addition: Lipton Green Tea Acai, Dragonfruit and Melon….. matter of fact…. I think I will make a cup now…….
My sister would totally want to hang out with you…she LOVES tea, too!! 🙂
We should just move in together! I hoard the actual COFFEE, so we would be quite a pair! Other things I purchase every time I go in a store: Laughing Cow cheese, peanut butter, frozen broccoli. As for household items, I hoard scented candles.
I could definitely contribute to the coffee stash, also! We would be totally set!! 🙂 I’ll keep the scented candle thing in mind, since they give me a headache…should I receive one, I know who to pass it along, too! 🙂
I knew I loved you. Seriously. This is hilarious.
I’m the same way, sort of, and I stopped drinking coffee! But I just finished my pumpkin spice and have a large bottle hiding in the background waiting as my smaller sugar cookie flavor gets used up. So not as many, but I’m only on tea these days.
Lately I’d say it’s K-cups. You could start a series of these posts, my friend. Seriously. 😛
Awww, thanks Andrea! 🙂 Good idea on the series…I am sure Lisa (actually, I know she does, but I won’t reveal her “secret”) hoards stuff, too! The warm sugar cookie creamer is yummy, too! 🙂
Funny, Ashley! When I saw the title, I thought you were cleaning out the little basket of creamers every time you went out to a restaurant. At least you are buying it. I admit that I hoard hotel shampoos and lotions, I love those little bottles. At least I haven’t taken any from the maid cart in quite a long time.
That’s what I thought. Here in Thailand they bring ketchup packets when they deliver pizza - gross!- so everyone I know has tons of little ketchups in the butter compartment.
My mother was a hoarder of condiment packets (and hotel shampoos, too!). We had an entire drawer in the our kitchen of them. It was gross, honestly! 😉
Have you tried the International Delight Cinnabon flavor? SO yummy!
No, but it sounds yummy! 🙂
…but why are they all the SAME ones though? LOL! I could see if they were all different! LOL. My favorite one is the Cinnabon one that the previous poster mentioned. Oh…and the International Delight White Chocoloate Mocha one as well is super good too! I had an OBSESSION with Bath and Body Works products! ALL OF THEM! The hand soaps especially! I have like 30 of the body splashes…some of them in the same scents!
I am limited in my selection of sugar free choices, so I only buy the ones I like! 😉
The B&BW hand soaps are totally awesome! 🙂
This feels strangely familiar to me…maybe it’s the 7 lipsticks in my purse? Or the 3 pounds of coffee in my freezer? Or the favorite camisole top I have in 4 different colors? Love the photo! I could take a similar one of the lipsticks on the bottom of my handbag!
Oh yes, I definitely buy the same shirt in multiple colors! So, I am totally with you on that one! 😉
I find myself stocking up on whole chickens. I don’t know why. I know my thinking is ‘if we run out of food I can always place a chicken in the crockpot and stretch it for a few days if necessary’. We NEVER run out of food. Stopping by from SITS.
Blessings~
Alethea
LOL! Good point though about the chicken…I tend to do that with chicken breasts when they are on sale…never hard to defrost some and have a meal! 😉
That is so me! But I don’t consider it hoarding if they’re all different flavours (mine are). I’m just finishing up a Belgian Chocolate and I can’t wait to get back to Caramel Vanilla. If they didn’t have an expiry date I would probably have even more (I’m so paranoid about expiries!!). 🙂
Oh yeah, I definitely pay attention to the dates on the bottles…I like a lot of cream in my coffee, so I am never even really close to hitting that date, though! 😉
Ahahaha! I love the “totally normal” shelf!
I am a huge fan of Bob’s Candy Canes. Only Bob’s will do. This year, I only found 2 boxes of them at Christmas. I was devastated. Last year I hoarded 12 boxes and they only lasted until June. Now I have to settle for the subpar Brach’s Candy Canes, just because I can’t go candy cane-less.
It’s a problem.
Cracking up Danielle! One of my best girlfriends is a seasonal candy hoarder, so I totally get your obsession! So sorry that you did not get to find more of your kind this year…that sucks!
Well, you know, because you know me that I am a total hoarder of so many things but Tostitos Baked Tortilla chips and Target brand low fat Mexican cheese (I have to have my nachos) and apples and peanute butter. If I drank coffee (I know…I know), I know I’d be a hoarder of creams.
How do you not drink coffee? I am always SO IMPRESSED with the people who don’t! I do enjoy a nacho…I should try that cheese…maybe for the super bowl! 🙂
I am CONSTANTLY made fun of because of this undying trait!!! Right now I have about 7 2 liters of pop, 4 pounds of coffee, 12 bags of chips….you get the idea!!! People always joke that if ever (God forbid) the world goes to He- …we could live for a year on my nice assortment of stock!! My motto?? If it’s on SALE AND you have coupons…. buy as MANY as possible!!! You just never know when it will go on sale again… I have peace in knowing all my “staples” are in waiting at my house and NOT the store. 🙂
You are definitely the house I am coming to hang out at if the world ends! 😉
Oh My. I understand though.I feel weird when there isn’t enough salt in the house. Weird, but true.
I can totally see that, actually! Salt is necessary for pretty much all cooking! 🙂
You are not alone! With the coffee creamer, maybe. But the hoarding, no. I have a weird body lotion issue. If I’m not buying it, I’m asking companies if I can review theirs. Right now I have four bottles in my bathroom, three in the basement, one on my dresser, and one on the coffee table. I guess I need to feel like I can be anywhere in the house and get lotion.
At least your creamer is contained in one place! Oh, and I just noticed it’s all sugar free. Get as many as you want! 🙂
The sugar free creamer is pretty much my only contribution to being healthy, so I appreciate the praise! 🙂
I totally hear you on the body lotion…when you want some, you want it! 😉
CRAYONS!! I absolutely cannot use a box of crayons until I have another brand new box in my possession. I don’t know why, but I’ve always been like this. It gives me anxiety and I can’t start coloring if I don’t have a backup.
Yeah, what, I’m 27 and I love coloring. Step off.
LOL!!!!!
We could totally be BFFs if we ever meet each other 🙂 You should show off some or your coloring in your blog!
No doubt, the crayon hoarding is the best comment yet!! 🙂 Love it!!
Poor Ashley, I had no idea. I’m sorry.
Thanks! I can use all the support I can get! 😉
It’s shredded cheese for me. I don’t think I’ve ever had less than five bags of it in my fridge. Sometimes it’s different kinds, sometimes it’s all the same. And I just keep buying it every week. Why? I have no idea really.
Cheese is yummy! And the more you have the better your food will taste! 😉
I have actually seen your creamer obsession, whether it be in your home or while traveling! So funny. Sadly, I am a little obsessed with paper products - paper towels, napkins (especially the cocktail napkin variety), and toilet paper. I honestly admit I think I use an unusual amount of toilet paper - I realize this is tmi- and it is not like I go to the bathroom an unusual number of times during the day. Maybe it is all those times I use a public restroom and there is NO paper after it is too late and you already started!! Regardless of the reason, I have enough paper goods stocked for my entire apartment building!!
Cracking up! As you know, my mom was toilet paper obsessed, too! She definitely always wanted to make sure we had plenty!! 😉
Toilet Paper and Coffee are my two main hoarded items. I can’t stand to pay full price for either and I have definite brand preferences.
I actually got a text today from my youngest saying we needed toilet paper. My reply listed three places in the house he should look to find some.
LOL! Of course you had to tell him where to find the extra TP! 😉 Love it!
International Delight Coffee Creamer - French Vanilla - Fat Free — The BEST coffee creamer in the world. I thought I was the only one that can not do without flavored creamer for my coffee!! YAY! Apparently, I am “normal” after all.
I am a stock piler (is that a word?) of Bounty Paper Towels. It is freakish but it is directly correlated with Publix sales that I coordinate with manufacturer coupons. You can really never have enough 12 packs of Bounty!
Paper towels are the best! I definitely like to keep extra on hand, too!
Will have to check out that coffee cream, too! 🙂
The very first sentence is THE BEST because it totally reminds me of my Grandma! She actually did save things because she lived through the Depression. I can’t think of anything I hoard…I run out of stuff all the time!
My dad, whose parents lived through the Depression, talks about the stuff his mom would save all the time.
I hoard international delight creamer! I had tons of coupons, so I went all extreme couponer and bought about 50 for 30 cents each. They freeze! I’m down to my last 5, I have no coupons, and I’m getting itchy!
I had no idea they freeze…that is definitely a helpful tip! 😉
I tend to hoard chocolate. One never knows when I’ll need a lot of it…
Oh yes, nothing is better than knowing you have plenty of chocolate in the house! 🙂
LOL My grams is like this. She has one jar of mayo left and she freaks out so she looks for a sale and then buys 3. Case in point tomorrow I have to take her to the store because Smirnoff is on sale so she wants to buy 2 CASES (not a 6 pack but 2 whole cases) of it because the Super Bowl is on Sunday and I might want a drink with my snacks while I’m shouting at Baltimore to beat the snot out of the 49ers (I’m actually a Colts fan but I’ll praise anyone who beats the Patriots 😀 ). She has 6 MEGA LARGE size containers filled with All laundry detergent because one place had it on sale then Target would give her a $5 GC if she bought 2, ect. Oh and because the MEGA LARGE bottle’s are too heavy at first, guess who gets to fill a smaller more manageable bottle with All from the mega huge bottle? This girl. So I know this very well because she’s like that with everything.
I was just dropping since you were so kind as to comment on my blog on Monday when I was the SITS featured blogger. Also, I’m hosting a giveaway on my blog this Friday if you’d like to come back by and check it out that would be excellent!
Your fellow SITStah,

Cracking up at the fact that you have to be her hoarding helper!! Love it! 🙂 Hope you get her all stocked up today!
I just crawled out from the very large rock I’ve been living under and I’m devastated - I didn’t know they had flavored coffee creamer! Where can I get some? I’d hoard it too if I knew how to get some…or a lot.
Oh yes, it is tasty. You should definitely inquire at your supermarket about where to find some…you will be so happy! 🙂
My black coffee was tasting delicious, and now all I taste is the lack of tasty creamer. Share, Ashley (if you have any to spare)!
I should go all Seinfeld on you and be like I cannot spare a square! 😉 Seriously, though, I can hook you up! 🙂
Nope. I’m worse. I steal “Sweet and Low” from everywhere I go. It’s not that I can’t afford it. I certainly can. My love for my morning cup or coffee and my fear of being without sweetener compel me to take the little pink packets whenever I see them!
Ha ha ha! All those restaurant managers out there who are thinking to themselves, “Man, we could really make a profit if we didn’t have to keep restocking the Sweet & Low!” 😉
In case of “nuclear attack” we always try to have several pounds of coffee grinds in the house.
Super smart! I know whose house to flee to in case of attack! 😉
I will pick up salsa all the time, thinking I must be almost out. My husband will then tease me about the 4 or 5 unopened salsas in the cabinet.
